Customer's Issue:
Our customer contacted us as they needed to reduce the time a process took in their production. They manufacture building materials, sealants etc. To create the sealant, the raw material (powder) is put into large mixing tubs via a conduit flex pipe with a fitted and connected hood. The tubs and powders continuously change as do the hoods/connectors they use to fill the tubs. They did have some steel hoods/connectors but they were very heavy, difficult and time consuming to change. After discussions around materials and time saving ActionPlas reduced the weight from 11kg. to approx. 2kg. We designed and produced a universal connector. This changed the labour intensive two-person job into a one-person job with much less effort needed to put the hoods on and change them.
The process:
We visited the client’s site to carry out a number of inspections to ensure we had the right brief. During discussions we sent numerous designs from the Projects Division to the client. Once confirmed by the customer we passed the design onto manufacture.
The lead time from enquiry to completion:
It was from September 2020 to January 2021 and due to the success they are still in production.
